don't approve of multi-million dollar deals
for star footballers like Cristiano Ronald.
The parliamentary debate concerned a proposition
from Catalan left-wing parties
to limit the amount football clubs can pay for players.
Parliamentarians expressed disfavour
of Real Madrid's record multi-million dollar player payments,
but were not prepared to support legislation
to limit those large sums.
A government spokesperson argued
that legal, private business transactions
are not its responsibility.
