Sunlight hits my window
Alarm has been ringing for a while
I rub my eyes and turn around, I thought I'd find you,
As I need this every morning when I rise
Since I can't sleep till the sun comes up and shines…
Suitcase's packed and I am late as usual,
I'm tired and dressed up like a fool,
Wait in line, rush to the gate that called my name
Sit with a stranger who pretends to be awake.
As I pretend to care where this one plane will take…
Hope you know, I can still feel you on my skin, hear you voice.
On this flight, everyone looks just like you as I pass out, still I wonder,
Were we meant to say goodbye?
When I landed, I heard no sound,
Here again on foreign ground,
I find myself using words that don't belong to me
And shaking hands I might not ever shake again.
The job is done and here I am boarding my next plane...
Hope you know, I can still feel you on my skin, hear you voice.
On this flight, everyone looks just like you as I pass out, still I wonder,
Were we meant to say goodbye?
