Edward III had a new vision for the castle.
He would transform Windsor into the home of English chivalry -
a new Camelot.
This would be an age of courtly love,
when knights sought honour both in battle, and in romance.
Edward created a new order of knights -
the Order of the Garter.
His dream was to recreate the glories of the Round Table
and the Court of King Arthur.
The first tournament of the Order of the Garter
is held on St George's Day, 1349.
That is at the very height of the Black Death,
when 40% of the country is dying around him.
