Confidence in the world economy has sunk to a new level
reflected in the plunging price of oil and shares.

US Brent crude dipped below $50.
Analysts say that's another sign of the impact of the economic downturn on demand for oil.
A congressional advisory panel in the US says
China has stepped up computer espionage attacks on the US government and American businesses.
The panel also says that China is aggressively pursuing its cyber warfare capabilities.
This panel was set up by congress to look out at
China's actions affect US security interests.
Among the findings in its latest report,
it says China's stealing vast amounts of sensitive information from US computer networks.
And that military intelligence sides are subject to regular intrusions of attacks.
The report describes China's pace in computer warfare capabilities is impressive but disturbing.
China hasn't so far commented on the report,
but has previously denied trying to undermine US interests.
