【The Edinburgh Festival Fringe】
Edinburgh is the world’s leading festival city.
It boasts over a dozen of them and most take place in August.
Perhaps the biggest of those is the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The Fringe is the world’s largest performing arts festival
and it came about in 1947.
Eight theatre companies wanted to join the first Edinburgh international festival that year.
However, they didn’t have invitations to perform.
That didn’t stop them
and they found places in the city to put on their productions.
The theatre crowds in town went wild for them.
