Thatched Cottage, My Office –
1950, Completing “Singing Silently” In Chungli
All alone
A single lamp
With shadows of the light
Concrete and dirt is where I write
I write and write
From sunrise to the moonlight
I wish for my pen
To be a bridge that takes all to suffering's end
Namo Buddha Ya
Namo Dharma Ya
Namo Sangha Ya
A world of silence
Is the most beautiful world
For it shuts out the turmoil that's our woe
You will see that
A mountain is no longer a mountain
A river will no longer be a river
This world of ours can ever be so silent
A world of silence
Shuts out the noise
Quietly I listen to this song
Singing the music of my heart's home
Spoken:
“In this silent night
This pen keeps me company
Like a great sailing ferry
Shipping Dharma's treasure and joy
To the world's every family”
