The dusk fell before
We went back home
It was she
Standing there
We played till our bodies being glowed
lay down the floor
watching her door
her dress and soft rope were moving slow
I wished her speak to me tomorrow.
"Hey! Do you want to go to Araby?
I would love to go but I can't."
"If I go, I will bring you something."
"That would be great!"
My body was like a harp
her words and gestures were like fingers
moving upon the wires
what innumerable follies laid waste my waking & sleeping thoughts
after that evening
I wished to annihilate the tedious intervening days
I reminded my uncle on Saturday morning
I would go to the bazaar in the evening
But he never came back until 9 o'clock.
(All work and no play make Jack a DULL boy!)
I held the money and got on the train
The trian started to move,
I felt like I am approaching the large building
with its magical name——Araby
Nearly all the stalls were closed
and the great part of the hall was in darkness
I walked into the center of the bazaar timidly
What can I buy for my girl?
Suddenly, I saw a young lady and two young gentlemen.
They were talking and laughing.
The woman asked me to buy something
No,Thank you.
Gazing up into the darkness, I saw myself as a creature
driven and derided by vanity.
My eyes burned with anguish and anger.
