He met her up at Briercrest, had a twinkle in her eye
Knew then and there together they belonged
Courted her for ninety days then got down on one knee
And swore that she was all he'd ever want
They moved to Colorado, worked the Wondervu Cafe
When the day was done she'd listen to him sing
They'd stare out the windows at the lights of old Cheyenne
And wonder what their lives were going to bring
Now, Amen, children they have ten
Try to live right and follow His commandments
Hand in hand, through thick and thin , together they've been standing
My friend and his girl from Coal Creek Canyon
They're quick to count their blessings, but the good Lord only knows
Hard times have hammered at their door
They all stick together, do the best with what they have
When the lights go out at night they rest assured
Amen, children they have ten
Try to live right and follow His commandments
Hand in hand, through thick and thin, together they've been standing
My friend and his girl from Coal Creek Canyon
They don't need to see the whole highway
They've trusted their lives to His hands
One step at a time, day by day
They believe everything has gone as planned
Amen, children they have ten
Try to live right and follow His commandments
Hand in hand, through thick and thin, together they've been standing
My friend and his girl from Coal Creek Canyon
Hand in hand, through thick and thin, they've been lifelong companions
My friend and his girl from Coal Creek Canyon
